About Rue Sherwood
“Rue is not only a great designer, but she also has an eye for details. A true artist, she is able to bring life to a garden or landscape. She is a pleasure to work with throughout the process, from concept to construction. She has a great team of contractors, nurseries and suppliers who can bring together all the elements to make for a successful project.” Carter Roberts
Rue Sherwood’s design aesthetic is influenced by two
fundamental premises. First, admiration for our local landscape and its native materials, plants, wildlife and changing seasons inspires the desire to foster a sense of place that is appropriate to New England.
Secondly, Rue appreciates the value that beauty, good design and a healthy environment contribute to our collective well-being.
Building on these basic concepts, Rue pairs landform with elegant hardscaping and unique plant combinations to create spaces that welcome and landscapes that thrive.
Rue Sherwood received a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a degree in Plant and Soil Science from University of Vermont. She is a Certified Landscape Designer (APLD) and a Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP).
In her spare time, Rue enjoys being outside gardening, hiking and taking photos of this beautiful place we call home.
